Disclaimer

Clarra is designed to inform, not to alarm — and not to replace professional judgement. This page sets out, plainly, what our content is and isn't.
Informational only, not medical or safety advice
Everything Clarra publishes — on this website and in the app — is general information to help you understand cosmetic ingredients. It is not medical, health, dermatological, safety or purchasing advice, and must not be relied on as such. For any medical or health concern — including allergies, skin conditions, pregnancy or a reaction to a product — consult a qualified professional.
Hazard is not the same as risk
When we say an ingredient is “flagged by IARC”, “restricted in the EU” or “under review”, we are reporting a regulatory or scientific hazard classification — a statement about a substance’s inherent potential. That is not the same as the real-world risk from a finished product, which depends on concentration, how the product is used and individual sensitivity. Regulators often respond to a hazard by setting a concentration limit rather than a ban, precisely because hazard and risk are different.
We cite, we don't accuse
- We do not describe any product or ingredient as “toxic”, “dangerous” or as something that “causes” a disease.
- Every flag attributes a named public source — such as EU CosIng, IARC, California Prop 65, CIR or ECHA — so you can check it yourself.
- We do not assert that any brand tests on animals; cruelty-free status is framed positively as what a brand states or is certified for.
Accuracy and change
Ingredient science and cosmetics regulation evolve constantly. We work from public sources and aim to be accurate, but information may be incomplete or become out of date, and product formulations and brand policies can change without notice. Always read the current product label.
Fair comparisons
Where we compare Clarra to other apps, we describe what each is known for factually and explain how Clarra approaches the same job. These comparisons are fair commentary to help you choose; they are not claims that any other product is inferior, inaccurate or harmful.
