Conscious beauty, without the fear
Clarra exists because reading a beauty product shouldn't feel like being scared into a purchase. We think you deserve the sourced facts — clearly, calmly, and with enough context to make your own call.
Why we built Clarra
Ingredient-scanning apps did something genuinely good: they got millions of people curious about what's in their products. But a lot of them lean on fear — red scores, alarming language, the implication that a long ingredient list is something to dread. That drives engagement, but it makes for anxious, poorly-informed decisions.
Clarra takes the opposite path. Most of what's in a typical product is doing quiet, useful work. A few ingredients carry a genuine regulatory flag worth understanding. Our job is to tell those apart — and to be honest that a regulatory hazard classification is not the same as real-world risk from a finished product.
Who it's for
Clarra is built for women who care about what they put on their skin and want a straight answer — whether that's avoiding a specific ingredient, shopping cruelty-free, keeping a routine vegan, or just understanding a label before buying. It covers beauty and personal care only, which is what lets the ingredient knowledge go deep instead of spreading thin.
What we promise
- We cite our sources and never call an ingredient 'toxic' or a product 'dangerous'.
- We keep hazard classification separate from real-world risk.
- We frame cruelty-free positively — what a brand states or is certified for.
- We're honest when a source is genuinely ambiguous.
- We stay informational — never medical, safety or purchase advice.
